Mi A2: Body & Design
Mi A2 is the latest offering of Xiaomi and it is the successor of Mi A1, which launched last year. Mi A1 is also a great (ANDROID ONE) device with its cameras, audio quality, design and software. And as compared to Mi A1, Mi A2 is whole lot better, it has new gen. 18:9 big display of 5.99 inches, narrow bezels, slim body, gorilla glass protection, A USB type C port for fast charging and for earphones too. Yes you heard it right! It has no 3.5mm headphone jack. A contemporary IR blaster on the front, Volume rockers and Power Button on the right side with only power button accessible comfortably and volume rockers needed some more stretching.
Fingerprint sensor is on the back with easy access to both hand’s fingers. The body is super slim and hence very slippery to handle, so using a case or cover is required. The extra Camera bump which you will feel like a rock on the back (camera bump is taller than Redmi Note 5 Pro & Moto G5S Plus). Talking about camera, Mi A2 sports 12MP plus 20MP dual rear camera with f/1.75 and an LED flash. On the bottom side we get USB type C port in center, speaker grills and mic.

Mi A2 Technical Specs, Software & Specs
Mi A2 uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 (SDM660) octa core chipset as its power source. Snapdragon 660 is a entry level like flagship processor with kryo cores and AIE (Artificial Intelligence Engine). The mobile has 4GB of RAM with 64GB of inbuilt storage with Dual SIM and no hybrid SIM card slot which means there is no memory card slot to expand storage, Adreno 512 GPU, Dual 4G VoLTE and Supports fast charging through USB type C.
Mi A2 has a Full HD+ display but poor in brightness, which mean you cant see you phone’s display in outdoor with bright sun light, we have tested it and it gives us a stretch to our eyes. Mi A2 has 3000 mah of battery which is, at this price level and features seems insufficient. Also Mi A2 Sports fast charging but the supplied charger is standard 10W charger with no fast charging.
On the software part, Thanks to Google, Mi A2 has Android Oreo 8.1 with Android ONE Project, but xiaomi is xiaomi, xiaomi annoyingly added its File Manager, Mi Drop and Feedback app to software part. While the device is running Stock Android. You can activate assistant by long pressing the home button.
In Mi A2, Xiaomi focused on the optics, The rear side has 12MP+20MP camera and on the front, we get 16MP for selfies and videos. The rear camera supports 4k video recording at 30 fps and full HD recording at 30 & 60 fps both. The images appear crisp, detailed and sharp. Talking about the camera app, Xiaomi has made some changes to its Mi Camera app and replaced the stock camera (Google cam). We tested the cameras and found that, after clicking a bunch of 5 to 10 photos, the mobile gets heated just like we have played PUBG in it for 30 mins. The camera app is too not stable, and lags too much, especially when using front camera to click photos, the rear camera does not shows any lag and all others modes work perfectly. Mi A2 has given a Slow-mo mode but we cant increase its fps more than 120 fps.

Mi A2: Performance & Battery Backup
Mi A2 has decent amount of RAM to do Anything with it, coupled with nice processor and plenty of storage. But here one thing matters, that we cant expand the storage with SD cards. But for Daily life users 64GB proves more than enough.
Mi A2 handles all the processes very efficiently and doesn’t shows any lag. You can play graphic intensive games with no lag with its Adreno 512 GPU. Asphlat 9, PUBG, Super Mario Run, Mortal Combat ran fine with default settings.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 scored 1,33,467 in AnTuTu, and 1,645 and 4,840 in Geekbench 4’s single-core and multi-core tests respectively. These scores are slightly lower on average than those of the Nokia 7 Plus, which managed 1,37,573, 1,590 and 5,780 respectively. The Mi A2 also got 24,850 in 3DMark Slingshot Unlimited and 14fps in GFXBench Manhattan 3.1.
Talking about the Battery of Xiaomi Mi A2, we can say that you need to purchase a fast charger and carry it with yourself all around. The smartphone can be used a day, and in evening it needs to plug in the charger. The built-in power saver mode expand the backup to only 1 to 1.5 hours.
At this price point Xiaomi Mi A2, has all features which a mid range mobile phone has, Mi A2 has an aggressive price and it is quite promising hardware. It has good camera setup, nice body design, good stock software. Although the mobile has its own cons, such as, it has low battery, not much bright display and also doesn’t come with fast charger. But apart from that Mi A2 can be a good budget performer. (But if You want the same thing with MIUi, then go for a lesser priced, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro).
